2010 Mazda 6 sport, Car won't start!
« on: January 04, 2021, 07:52:44 pm »
So my 2010 mazda 6 sport with keyless entry wouldn't start, had breakdown out, there was a fault for steering lock fault, communication signal lost. Steering lock didnt engage, cleared the fault and car started.

However, steering lock is now on and there are no fault codes, foot on clutch key is green, Push button is also green but nothing happens.

Changing the steering lock at mazda is around 800 looking online.

Is it possible to buy something like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/c/8018228360
And would i be able to swap all of these without any other programming?

or do I need to take it to mazda and just cough up the 800ish?

99.99% that will be already programmed to the old car and you cannot reuse it.

But as you can reprogram a new one with the Mazda software, in theory you could reuse it.

But this mean that you to sweet talk to the dealer who is already happy to charge you £800.

So it is very unlikely that you will be able to do that.

Can you try this:

You may be able to read the code:

Going by older posts, the dealer can fix the car but it will cost money if they have to replace parts.

There is also an earth point in the wing which causes this problem to come and go like yours. So you may be like and going through the earth point, may fix it for free.

I would try the earth points first and hope for the best.
