Poor reception on Bose radio
« on: November 23, 2014, 12:19:01 pm »
My one complaint about my 2010 Sport is the poor reception I get on my Bose FM radio. Yesterday was particularly bad due, I would guess, to the bad weather. However I have never experienced such poor FM reception before. Is this a problem other owners are experiencing? I suspect the problem lies with the location of the aerial which, I believe, is in the rear window. Is there a remedy?

I have the same model hatchback and the reception on standard type radio is ok, I think other cars I have had with antenna have been better. But I can pick up all the local stations and even some from outside our supposed reception  area. Radio 2 is the worst but I think that is more to do with location of the transmitter than anything
to do with the car.

Maybe it is some sort of lose connection.
But I know what you mean, even in the new one it isn't that great..:(

I raised this topic originally and got one or two replies. Unfortunately none were experiencing a problem. I just thought I would raise it again to see if anyone has a similar problem and resolved it, as my FM radio reception was particularly bad today.

In my desperate attempts to fix my car alarm I undid a couple of the earthing bolts that are under the bonnet  and cleaned them up.  They are in plain view.

It did not fix my alarm problem but I thought my radio reception was better.  It was not bad originally though!

Thanks for the reply I60. I did this very thing a few weeks ago, when I was experiencing problems with the keyless starting system, but unfortunately it hasn't helped the radio reception.
