GROWLING NOISE
« on: April 13, 2018, 01:42:40 pm »
Hi
I run a Mazda 6 2008 hatchback and recently been getting "growling" noises from the engine on ignition. It does go away when I drive off, but the noise is there almost every time I start up. In standing traffic I don't hear it either. It's only when I start up and can happen 2-3 times a day. I don't really know and when I speak to a garage mechanic he doesn't really know either - for them it's a question of trial and error, which can be expensive ! If anyone has had similar can they suggest something?
Thanks

I may be totally wrong, but it sounds like a faulty starter motor. I had something similar happen to me. I thought at first the noise was due to a flat battery, but tests showed that it was a faulty starter motor. Or it might be the starter solenoid???
Others more qualified than me may have the answer. ::)
