Dead Engine Mazda 6 2Litre TD

Advice needed for a 2006 Mazda 6 2L TD
Late at night I hit a badger which caused a severe jolt to the car (and the badger)  similar to hitting a large pothole.  No visible to the car but the engine cut and would not restart. The Breakdown  driver spent a long time searching for an Enertia fuel cut off switch to no avail. and eventually towed me home. There is a mount behind the grill but no switch. I have searched under the dash and in the boot quarter panel but nothing.  I disconnected the battery overnight and eventually the engine started.  The car was driven to the local garage for checks but then again refused to start. Two hours (and £150) they are no further forward.
Can anyone suggest what might be at fault ?
