This might seem a little bizarre - but this is my, somewhat expensive, experience. Bought replacements at Halfords and they didn't work well. Still smeared etc. So - I bought some from Ebay. No better. In exasperation and irritation, and as a last resort, I went to my friendly Mazda dealer for a set. They work perfectly.

Original equipment will tend to be better I would think, if only because the manufacturer doesn't want the expense of replacing it during the warranty period. I suppose you could argue that you get what you pay for although it might come with an unacceptable premium sometimes.

Without wishing to tempt fate, my 59 plate 6 which is now over three years old has not had a single thing go wrong with it, not even a blown bulb - same applied to my MkII Mondeo.

I've just replaced mine with some Bosch Aero-twin blades.  So far, no complaints, very quiet and clear the screen well.  Might just be placebo, but seems to have helped my auto wipers too - seems to get the speed right better now in light rain.

OEM wipers are Denso. Euro car parts list 3 Denso for an 2009 m6 , part no. starting DL. IIRC.  Probably some code somewhere on Google to get 25 percent off too.

I had a 03 6 and areotwins on it and I tried everything to stop the smear of the blades nothing worked! one day the screen cracked and normally this would be a pain ut for 60 quid I tough no more smears, the thing still did it after a new screen!!!

I have now moved up to a 08 plate thought it might be better but its not, I am just starting out in detailing and tried everything but the screen will not stop smearing.

Just got Goodyear aero front blades for my 2011 Mazda6 .... one 24" and one 17" from Costco ..... cost something like £5.50 each !! Work superbly.

Last winter I found the joints in the OEM blades froze up, as they are not aero, but still have the traditional multi-part pivoted sectors.

This was my experience, exactly. I wasted money on other makes which smeared dreadfully. Mazda's wipers sorted the problem and continue to perform well after a year.

Second that on the use of rain-X.

The auto wipers never worked properly, at any sensitivity setting, until I treated the screen with it. Now it's superb. Apply sparingly and use a soft towel or similar to buff it off thoroughly after application to avoid cloudy vision.

Bosch flat blades from one of the online retailers work well for me. Google 'discount wiper blades' or something similar.

Bringing up an old topic, I've a 58plate Mazda 6, if you look in the owners handbook. There is a section giving you a part number for replacement rubber blades (rather than the whole arms. I think it cost me £14 for a front set of blades some 2 1/2 years ago.
And there just starting to wear out.
It took me all of half an hour to remove them from the car and slide the new rubbers in (will have to re use the metal flat bars that support the shape of the blade though.

I think the dealership was trying it on so i'd buy whole new arms, when i said i'd go get the cars handbook. He miraculously found them on his system.

Have you got a part number for what you bought?

Hi Dave,

I've just looked in my manual, I'm afraid I may have been a little misleading by saying there is a part number. It shows you how to replace the blades in the wiper arms. Which isn't difficult at all.

I could have sworn I saw one, when I got my last set a couple years ago, I'm about ready for a new set of blades....so If they don't try and convince me that there's only the full arms available.

I'll get all of the relevant part numbers and post them up on here, when I can get around to it.
