I-STOP not working
« on: February 03, 2022, 05:48:47 pm »
Hi I've just bought a mazda 6 gt 2.5 sport nav plus petrol automatic. Got to say it's beautiful. I picked it up from Glasgow and drove it back to Leeds West Yorkshire. Everything works as far as I have tested (still Learning what it can do). I have noticed the I stop doesn't work. As it won't turn engine off when I stop in a queue or at lights. A quick look at the screen it says istop not ready, even though I've drove it all the way from Glasgow about 300 miles. Any help would be appreciated. And thanks in advance.

Hi Craig, there are a couple of things that may be causing this.
If you have the ventilation set to clear the front screen this switches on the aircon. While this is working Istop does not operate.
Also, as you car is an automatic, I am assuming that Istop will only work if the car is in neutral and possibly handbrake on.

I have had this same car for the past three years.  iStop does work but the car is particular in choosing when to use it.  I have aircon switched on all the time.  Sometimes it is noticeable that iStop does not come on.  Other times it works frequently.  This is more likely to be on a medium length journey.  Not a short one or a long motorway run.  I just cannot figure it out.
