5 year 62,500 mile service cost
« on: January 09, 2014, 08:08:51 am »
Mailed two dealers and they have both come back with the cost of £298:00. Car has done 46K and about 5.5K since the last service. What would you do folks?

Phone service team and find out what's involved on upcoming service, I did when mine was due found out they wanted 380 to change te oil and filters. I did it all myself with mazda oil for less than 60 quid. Another reason I went for petrol no stupid oil reset! .

What always amuses me is that the car should be serviced every 12 months or 12,500 miles. Your car has only done 5.5k since the last service, so I would wait until 10k before worrying. It makes little difference to the trade in value for a car that is over 5 years old. I would also get it serviced by an independent garage, you'll find it much cheaper.

Thanks for your replies. Actually had a requote of £250:00 after using my "discount" card. Apparently also includes gearbox oil change and new spark plugs. Hmmm.....I'm a bit of a sucker for that sort of thing! ::)

I had my 2 lt petrol Mazda 6 serviced last October and paid £206, which included a MOT which I didn't think was too bad for a main dealer. Mind you, it had only done 45k! Appears they give you a discount on a lower mileage as they don't change the pollen filter which is quite an expensive job apparently. They gave me the opportunity of paying the higher price, but they also said that I didn't really need it on a lower mileage car. A bit unusual that. I would have expected a main dealer to sell me the whole deal!!! Must be one of those rarities; an honest dealer!

cold be wrong but the pollen filter is about 7 quid and behind the glove box . Takes less than 5 min to change. As I said I could be wrong.

Ah yeah I remember the 62 k has the plugs , I remember them telling me which is why I found it odd that the next 74 k is more expensive with less done.

Find an independent service agent !!!

Pollen filter can be changed by you in about 2 minutes .... behind the glove box.

Buy one on eBay

I could be wrong about the pollen filter. All I know is that when I look at the price list I acquired, the labour charge difference between a full service and an intermediate service is another £80. However, it doesn't mention a pollen filter. The extra costs on parts appear to be for: Air Filter, Axle Oil, Coolant, and Transmission Oil all of these items adding another £100. Either way, I saved a bit by not having a full service.

Mazda 6 2.5 Petrol. I have been quoted a wide range of prices ranging from £ 298 -250. If you haggle with the  dealers by mentioning independent service centres you can get them to reduce their prices down e.g £ 224

£224 is a good price. My 5 year service came in at £250 at Perrys - but included a 20% discount, utilising a card they gave me when I bought the car.

Pollen filter cost about £12 and as been mentioned is 2 min job, recommended to change annually especially if a lot of town driving in traffic.

Gave up on Mazda servicing after the 3rd or 4rd Service, I’m convinced they didn’t change the brake fluid so what else were they not doing?? I checked the little rubber covers over the bleed nipples and no sign of fluid staining.
The dealership I had been using is gone now so maybe that says it all.
