Aircon growling noise from behind dashboard/glovebox
« on: August 03, 2012, 04:59:28 pm »
I have an 07 2.3 petrol Sport. We had the aircon compressor replaced last December but in the last few months an intermittent growling noise can be heard from behind the dash and further investigation suggests it's coming from what looks like an electrical component behind the glove compartment. We think it could be an actuator for ventilation control flaps linked to the aircon system. The compressor seems fine and cools normally plus the grinding noise can't be heard from outside even with the bonnet up.

If the grinding noise can be heard, turning off the aircon silences it immediately.

Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution?

Thanks,

Ian
