Mazda 6 Gen II twin/single exhausts
« on: January 13, 2017, 01:37:10 pm »
Hi folks,

I've owned a 6 TS2 gen II estate for two years now and love it but something has been puzzling me.

My 2009 (09) car has twin exhausts. I've seen the same model and year on the roads, hatch and estate, with single exhaust. I've also seen TS models with twin exhausts. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the combination. I thought it might be something to do with petrol/diesel differences, but that doesn't seem to be the case as I see very few gen II diesels on the road.

Does anyone know what the reason for the different set ups is? I know I prefer mine with the twin exhaust  ;D

Basically, the 2 litre and above have the twin exhausts and the six speed gear box. The 1.8lt engine cars only have one exhaust pipe and a five speed box.
