Newbie-Advice needed
« on: December 15, 2016, 07:51:02 am »
Hi,

Hopefully this might be the right area to post, if not mods feel free to move.

My wife (I dont drive!!) has a Mazda 6 tsd 2010, just had the DPF go, garage has said the DPF, Intercooler and Turbo needs replacing, DPF is really bad so does not think a clean will work, now obviously the cost does not warrant the work being done, so the advice I need is whether I can realistically get any kind of money for it or just Scrap it??/

Thanks in advance.

Ady

I would investigate what he means by DPF go. The DPF flashes when it needs to replace the oil. When was the last time you did that? Replace the oil, reset the DPF and if it comes back, regenerate it. Here are the instructions:

Cheapest 2010 diesel on Auto Trader sells for £2550. Even if you need to spend some dollar on it, it is worth doing it.

For the intercooler and the turbo, you can find specialists who can give you more accurate advice but they should last the life of the car.

I would start with oil change and reset.
