Finally got a day to polish the '6!!
« on: July 22, 2012, 10:14:28 pm »
After buying my 6 in March, I've been waiting for a decent day's weather to get my polishing gear out and give it the once over! Well, today was that day now summer has finally arrived!!

Worst scratch was on drivers door, about 10 inches long:

and gone:

Full reflection in driver side rear door:

Reflection in drivers door with my other car (Honda Prelude):

Also polished the rear lenses, which removed most of the scratches:

And finally a shot of both the babies in their spotless glory!

A great way to spend a sunny Sunday!

Very nice - what did you do specifically to get rid of that scratch?  I have a few similar from a neighbour's empty plastic pond that blew over and hit my 6 :(

I have a Dual Action machine polisher. First go I hit it with medium pad/medium polish combo, got the worst out but was still visible. Gave it a second hit with medium pad/hard polish then a third hit with hard pad/hard polish. This removed it to the level you can see, then went over with soft pad/soft polish to clear the buffer trails from the hard polish, and ended with the finish you can see in the reflection shot.

Somehow, if I tried that I would end up with bare metal....
