Title: Small dent on bonnet. Is it easy to remove?
Post by: Agentmatt on April 27, 2018, 08:24:30 am
Hi all,

I have a dent on the bonnet just above where the catch is.  it's about the size of a 10p coin.  The paint is undamaged and not scratched.

It there an easy way to remove the dent? Any help would be great.

Thanks

I have seen a video on youTube  where the dented area was heated up using a hairdryer and then instantly cooled using an ice pack. The dented area popped out and resumed it proper shape.  Worth looking it up.

I've seen and done that trick, but it only works on Plastic body panels like bumpers etc...  The dent I have is on the bonnet which is metal.  This trick don't work.   :(

I have thought of giving it a few knocks with a hammer from underneath, but have a feeling that could damage the paint work.

Erm, no, don't go on it with the hammer! Ask a dedicated company or the local dealer. They all outsource everything nowdays, and so you will find who can give you a yes/no answer.

It is often posible to 'planish' out dents like this by working on them from the inside but you need an expert. There are plenty of companies offering such services which don't involve a body shop so well worth checking around for dent removal. It needn't cost too much either.
