If the new 6 looks like this then I'll be selling my own mother to get one!

I'm slightly disappointed.  OK, the front looks good.  The main body isn't that different from the current model, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.  The main problem is the figures.  Power is down from my Sport, although the lighter weight will probably compensate for that.  But the economy figures for the supposedly radical Sky technology are disappointing.  They are talking 60+mpg, but that is in 18 months time.  The current 6 will do 53mpg and other major manufacturers already have models of a similar size with economy figures in the mid 60's (e.g. the VW Passat Bluemotion does 65.7mpg and even the 2.0 does 61.4mpg).  By the time the new 6 is launched I predict that it will be lagging behind on economy unless they manage to achieve 70+mpg.

very nice bet it will be toned down abit for production, just read new bmw 520 68mpg, new tech, anti vibration pendalum gismo to allow 6 th gear @ 1500rev,s with no shudder etc, ironic but thats what i do in my 6 when crusing through those 50 mph avg speed limit roadworks and after 10 mins or so it can read between 50 & 58! mpg.

Love the look from the front, looks a bit like a Jag from the rear, which is not a bad thing.

More hits from trawling the internet today.

Autocar reckon that it's due to debut as the new Mazda6 at the Paris motor show (http://www.autocar.co.uk/www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/AllCars/260722/) and launch here in January 2013 (http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/AllCars/260773/)

Found an article on the internet yesterday (lost the address though!).  The Takeri is very close to the new 6.  Full details of the new 6 will be revealed at the Paris motor show in September and it will launch 'early' next year.
