What plugs for 2.0 DISI (2010)
« on: February 17, 2017, 12:55:53 pm »
I pulled the plugs from my car and see that there is quite a build up of soot/carbon on them. They were supposedly only changed 3000miles ago but they certainly don't look like it. Anyway I decided to be on the safe side and replace them. The plugs in it are NGK ILTR5A-13G however when I checked the Denso website and they recommend ITV16 which have a 1.1 gap as opposed to the ILTR5A-13 which has a 1.3mm gap.

Anyone get plugs very recently from Mazda able to tell me what they now fit?

If you have the drivers handbook, ? Does that tell you what plugs are fitted.?
Failing that maybe try the spares/stores counter of a Mazda dealer, the people
behind the counter will know or can find out from the Mazda computer records.

I checked my owner's manual and yes you got the right plugs for Lf 1999cc engine.

You need the LFG1 18 110 which means it is the NGK ILTR5A-13G you already have http://www.sparkplug-crossreference.com/convert/mazda/LFG1-18-110

The manual also mentions the L3Y2 18110 which seems to be the same NGK ILTR5A-13G http://www.sparkplug-crossreference.com/convert/mazda/L3Y2-18-110

The gap should be 1.25 - 1.35 mm (0.049-0.052 in).

I checked your car details on the http://www.carparts4less.co.uk/cp4l/c/Mazda_6_2.0_2010/p/car-parts/car-service-parts/regular-service/spark-plugs/?408680010&1&2282d9b94fbdcae94103b71938b897d4150e6eb9&000301 and it returns them as the OEM and cost £11.52.

They also advertise the Bosch at £2 and £3, while Denso come at £3, £6, £9, £13.

If you want to buy from them, you can register to their newsletter and they send discount promotion codes on a daily basis for something like 10-20%. The postage is free.

For more technical details check the opie oils. He has them for better price (£10.45) and their web site is more car people friendly. http://www.opieoils.co.uk/pv-79500-ngk-spark-plug-iltr5a-13g-laser-iridium-sparkplug-ngk-3811-single-plug.aspx But depending on your order, they may charge you something extra for shipping. You can email them with any questions and Tim is very knowledgeable. He will give you an extra 10% discount with his code as well.

In any case, you do not need to buy them from Mazda but you can check how much they sell them. I would not expect that they sell them any cheaper than the £10.

With regards the Denso ITV16, if you check opie's web site, you will discover that this plug is for the Russian spec car (Fitment Notes: Spark Plug Note >> to Chassis No.: GH1* -501301. Spark Plug Note >> Quantity: 4. Spark Plug Note >> Specification: Russia. Spark Plug Note >> to construction year: 201202.) and it costs £2. Your NGK ILTR5A-13G (3811) - Laser Iridium Spark Plug / Sparkplug - Platinum Ground Electrode says Fitment Notes: Spark Plug Note >> Engine Code: LF17 [104 - 110 Kw / 141 - 150 HP]. at £10.45. I have never managed to get any reassuring replies from carparts4less, but if you email opie, I am pretty sure he will confirm that you have the right plug and that this NGK is all you need.

Thanks for that very comprehensive reply. I think I'll stick with the OE spec ILTR5A-13G plugs. ;)

Hi folks,

Having a similar dilemma here with my 2006 2.0 6.  I purchased some Bosch plugs from EuroCarparts using their reg number look up, and I got sent plugs with a 17.5mm thread.  When I took out the old ones, those were NGK ILTR5A-13G with a 25mm thread.  So, either the ones supplied to me are the wrong thread length, or the ones previously installed (which must have replaced the original Mazda items at some stage, the car currently has 90k miles on it and I've had it since 65k) were the wrong thread length.

But there's another wrinkle: the NGK ILTR5A-13G recommended above are listed as a 17.5mm thread on Opie website, but as 25mm thread on EuroCarParts/CarParts4Less.  There's also an NGK ILTR6A-13G on Opie with a 25mm thread length.  I suppose Opie have got it wrong?  To find out, I called two separate Mazda dealers.  They want £90 (!) for a set of 4 plugs, and neither of them could confirm for me which length they are as they don't keep them in stock and it would take a few days to order in.  I also called ECP and Opie, neither of them could shed any light and referred me to the manufacturer.  Hmm.

What's going on here?  Nobody, not even a dealer, seems capable of giving me an answer.

Has anyone on here ever taken out the original Mazda plugs from their cars, and if so can they remember if they are 25mm or 17.5mm thread?

This is driving me round the twist.  The old one which came out broke (the ceramic/plastic/ whatever top bit broke off), so I now have a car I can't use until I've worked out if I've got the right plugs or not.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks all!

 :-\

SOLVED: have ascertained form the Bosch and NGK websites that I need the long reach.  Shame Mazda dealers don't have this information.  Have paid £22 for a pack of 4 Bosch, against the £90 the Mazda dealers wanted.  Result.

No worries.  Just to be clear my car is a 2006 2.0, post-facelift.  Long reach (25mm) spark plugs required.  The 17.5mm reach varieties recommended by most online suppliers (ECP, CP4L, Opie, Halfords) apply to pre-facelift cars around mid-2005 and earlier.  Those websites advise customers to check fitment, and then give no details as to which cars require which fitment.

Well, this is all according to Bosch and NGK, Mazda dealers can't help.

Part numbers are NGK ILTR5A-13G, Bosch HR8NPP302.
