Air Con Not Cold!
« on: July 17, 2013, 04:28:27 pm »
In this scorching hot weather I'm actually in need of AC finally but I've found that even when setting it to 15 celsius the air coming out is not cold. I've tried every single setting on the fully automatic system but still cannot get the air to come out cold, please help!

I have a 2003 Mazda6 2.3 Sport.

The most common problem is a lack refrigerant gas in the system. Try Halfords, They can check the system for leaks and recharge. My son has just had his car done and they charged about £70. The other thing to note is that you should operate the A/C on a regular basis throughout the year otherwise you could have problems. By the sound of your message it seems you may not have been doing this, so there could be other issues.

If you don't operate your aircon for a few minutes now and again during the colder months, the you run the risk of the seals in the unit drying out. Result: warm aircon!!

It's not abnormal to require a gas recharge every 5-7 years at a cost of £50 -£70.
If it doesn't stay cold for very long after a recharge, it indicates a leak which normally requires a dye in the system.
