Title: Dash-mount 'phone holder
Post by: Steve_c on June 01, 2012, 06:15:30 pm
I'm looking for suggestions for mounting a 'phone holder or cradle to the dash, as I'm not keen on the window-mounting options.  Ideally I'm looking for a cradle which mounts to the left of the climate control knobs, but without drilling into any of the interior trim.  Any ideas?

I got my cradle from Brodit but you will also need a mount. Cannot remember where I got my mount from though. Google should help you. I can take a pic if you like ?

That would be very helpful if you don't mind

Send me your email address as the pics I have taken are too big and I cannot post them.

Taken some smaller pics. The bent bracket I fashioned is a bit heath Robinson but I found that due to the weight of the Crapberry the mount suffered from vibration when on the move. The bracket secures it and now its nice and steady.

That's exactly the position that I want to use.  I'm confident that I can sort out a suitable cradle, but it's the mount that I'm struggling to find

+1 for Brodit Mounts and holders. Visit their website and they have customised options for most makes of cars for the mounts and you can search for your phone make and model for the holder. Not all holders will work if your phone is in a case (of course you could take the phone out of the case when in the holder  :) ).

I cannot for the life of me remember where I got the mount from. I know it uses the mounting holes for the aircon controls and does not require any hole drilled.

I've just been looking at the Brodit website, and they list three options;
- to the left of the central display (too high up)
- to the right of the central display (too high and it blocks half the display)
- to the left of the gearstick (possibly too low, but has a huge strap that comes all the way down the left side of the centre console - nasty!)

I'll have to search some more, but if you can dredge the memory banks I'd be very grateful!

You're a star!  Is it a push-fit, or am I going to have to dismantle half the dash to fix it?

The dash trim and center console trim must come off in order for you to get access to the aircon control mounting screws.

Looks like I'll have to persevere with removing the cupholder section then - I can get everything free apart from the back end which just doesn't want to pop out.
