My 06 GG hatch came back from the MOT stalling when coming to a stop, hunting at low revs and a bit sluggish at slow speeds. I've a feeling one of the tests exacerbated an existing condition as the headlights have been dipping at idle for a while and I recently used a whole bottle of Redex in one full tank, so maybe I've kicked up some crap and blocked the fuel filter some.
I've changed plugs and had the battery and alternator checked and confirmed as fine.
Anyway, I can't remember if this car had a small metal door at the very top of the fuel filler, just under the cap, or if I'm thinking of my Xedos. Could someone please photograph their filler, without cap? If mine's missing I'm wondering if this is causing a problem with pressure or something.

I do not think that such metallic cap would keep any pressure on the fuel tank.
Does your fuel tank makes any noises when you remove the screw cap?

no noticeable noise. maybe sometimes it releases pressure, but I don't recall clocking it.
I've moved my attention to the MAF and EGR valce and have just got a cleaner to blast those with.

Maybe you could check this release from pressure. It should not be like that.
There is a fuel tank pressure sensor that you may be able to read it with diagnostics.

thanks
EGR cleaner on the MAF sensor proved to be the answer in the end. smooth now.
