Hello from new member...
« on: April 05, 2016, 08:58:49 pm »
Hi All,

Just wanted to say hello, and thanks for accepting me to the site.

I'm in the process of considering a Mazda 6, and thought this was the place for me to get some info from current/past owners, before I commit to buying.

I currently own an 08 plate Ford Mondeo, which has been great if I am honest. I was considering the new Mondeo, but I'm not 100% sure I like it. I have to say, the Mazda 6 is a real looker to me. The only thing that concerns me is the supposed 'stiff ride' that many of the reviews state, but i guess that can boil down to personal preference at the end of the day.

Anyway, if anyone has any tips on what I need to look out for when bartering with the dealers...then please shout up.  :P

Cheers.

Hello and welcome to the forum. I've been a fan of Mazdas for many years, my present car being the third. I have even convinced my son to buy one. He has the latest sport model and seems to love it. I don't think you will be disappointed if you go down the Mazda route, but you will need to test drive one before making up your mind. The latest model is the most refined 6 yet, to my mind. My car is a 2010 face lifted model with just over 40,000 miles on the clock, which I plan to keep for another few years yet.

Welcome Elvis.  Regarding the stiff ride it might be just the sport model, for example the current version has 19 inch wheels.

I have the 2 litre petrol 2011 registered 6, Nice car comfortable and Mazda Petrol engines have a reputation of being pretty bomb proof. In 5 years ,a yearly service, 4 new tyres and a new battery. Hope I don't hex it
with that.?
If you fancy one as said ensure you go for a decent test drive over all the road conditions you can find.
Good luck, hope to hear how you got on.!

Yep test drive is a must if you want diesle 2.2 175 bhp sport nav auto 14 plate on most problems sorted  :)Love my one  8) Petrol most Gen 3s all OK. It depends on your milage 10000 plus p/a then diesle OK under and short runs then petrol my average mpg is 50. When buying negotiate for a get you home spare wheel and kit either free or cost price  as they only have the gunk kit  :( And if you want them auto fold mirrors when you lock the car a nice extra and this is the time to get them cheaper  ;D But the decision then is yours if you want power then the 175 bhp sport nav wont disappoint if not then the 165 petrol . Hope this helps.
Cheers Steve  8)

Thanks for the responses and advice.

Ordered a 6 on Monday.....Saloon, Sport Nav, 2.2 Diesel Manual, with the safety pack, in Meteor Grey.

Looking at a June delivery at the moment.

No doubt I'll be using this forum over the next few years for advice etc.  ;)

Hi Steve,

I went for the 175. Had a test drive in a 150, and it was zippy enough....but i wanted something with a bit more oomph.

I have a 2010 petrol 2.0L Sport auto which Mazda no longer do. They don't do a Sport with the petrol auto configuration. The nearest they do is the SEL nav. If I was looking to change my car for something similar, Mazda don't do it. I wonder why?

Not doing a Sport Petrol Auto is in addition to the one big question why they now don't do a 6 with a Hatchback.?

They don't do a hatchback because they wanted to move up into BMW/Audi territory and leave Ford/Vauxhall behind. Which is a pity because I would have preferred a hatchback although the Tourer is OK.

Hmm... Honda did this about ten years ago to their Accord model. Ten years on and Honda have now pulled the Accord out of the U.K. market.
