New Clutch?
« on: July 22, 2016, 10:24:32 pm »
Ive started to get a bit of a judder sometimes when I pull away. It could just be a matter of clutch adjustment, or it could mean a new clutch. Anyone know what Mazda would charge for a new clutch for a 2008 Mazda 6 TS 2 litre? I don't fancy taking it to one of these 'clutch specialists', as I know someone who had a lot of problems.

You'll probably pay through the nose for a Mazda dealer to change the clutch. I would use my local garage if it was me, rather than use a clutch specialist.

Just had mine done. The clutch release bearing was shot but I replaced the whole lot. Flywheel etc. Used a local jap specialist who charged me £968 in total (£200 plus vat for labour) local clutch centre quoted £1100 and halfords were a whopping £1400. From what I gather LUK components are used from new so me real need to pay inflated dealer prices for indentical components.

Thanks for responses. I seem to recall in the past, that it was always advisable to change the carbon thrust bearing when changing the clutch, as it was a lot cheaper than having the clutch out if the bearing conked out later in life. Funnily enough, the juddering I was experiencing, seems to have stopped, so I live in hope! ;D

YEP always replace all three parts  :) It's cheaper in the long run as all the parts seem to wear out about the same time so if one has gone the others won't be far behind. :(
