Engine/Transmission/Powertrain/Exhaust / Re: Transmission whirring / whining noise

Turns out it was definitely something internal in the gearbox, most likely a failed bearing. As diagnosis would involve 2 weeks without the car while a transmission specialist took the gearbox apart, I opted for the similarly priced option of swapping the box for a used one...and the obligatory new clutch.

Mazda Dealerships / Green 4 Motor Mazda.

This outfit is in the Coventry,  Stoke Leamington area.

Sales Manager is: Steve.Richards@eamingtonMazda.co.uk
We are happy with the car and will not be supporting a rejection at this time.

Did the Service Manager get involved, or are they too cheap to employ one.

Completely washing his hands of a problem he didn't know how to diagnose or want to fix if he could.
Dealers tend to treat effects not causes. They are not that bright, or just too greedy to do the right thing. They even produced  48 mpg  in 17 miles, was that 17 miles on the ramp with the engine running. Drive it for 100 miles and see what the figure is, certainly not 48
Well he had to eat his words as the owner got a refund as three codes came up because the injectors were about to drop their nozzles in the cylinders.

They sold a 2014 Sports Nav auto 70 K  miles  with injector problems that needed changing but wouldn't accept it. In fact they washed their hands of any repairs despite a warranty insurance. Also they zeroed the Regen Count from new so you couldn't see the change in frequency until  it was out of warranty.

This problem starts as in the 2nd year and gradually throws a code. Mazda Eur in Kent know about it but are not prepared to do anything as it means 4 new modified injectors t over £1000 each, so they blame it on the owners driving pattern not faulty materials.

Heating & Ventilation / Re: Windscreen Condensation

My 2018 6 estate gets so misty on the inside of the windscreen that in winter I have to DEICE the inside as well as the outside of the windscreen, not  a lot of fun as the car has a HUD so have to either DEICE the inside before starting the car or mess around with the setup to stop the HUD standing up otherwise the water is going to drip inside the unit which I feel sure will not do it any good at all.

Engine/Transmission/Powertrain/Exhaust / fuel rail connector
« Last Post by Paul Barnard on February 10, 2024, 04:58:13 pm »
I am trying to disconnect the connector to the pressure relief valve on the fuel rail and for the life of me I can't work it out. It appears to have a light grey rectangular plastic sleeve with an arrow on it that moves in slightly.
Anybody got any ideas?

My guess would be the clutch release bearing.

Vehicle Entertainment / Navigation Systems / Rear screen aerial amplifier?
« Last Post by andyonahill on December 12, 2023, 10:29:53 am »
I hope someone can help, is there an amplifier for the in screen aerial on the 2013 Mazda 6 saloon.

My radio reception seems to have got worse of late and the nav system does not pick up traffic information everywhere as it used to.
I am thinking that this may be a failed amplifier as I have had that one previous cars.

TIA

Engine/Transmission/Powertrain/Exhaust / Transmission whirring / whining noise
« Last Post by andrec81 on December 05, 2023, 10:53:47 am »
I have a 2017 manual petrol model, 56,000 miles. I've noticed a whining/whirring (I think someone compared it to an electric pencil sharpener noise on another forum) sort of noise whenever the car is moving, increasing in pitch as the revs go up in each gear. If I am stationary and press the clutch in, the noise goes away but starts again as soon as I release the clutch, even in neutral. Interestingly the noise does not go away if I put the clutch in whilst freewheeling. I can't remember if it suddenly started or has always been there but is merely getting louder - bought the car second hand. Any ideas before I go for an expensive diagnostic? Thanks.

Vehicle Electrics / Battery Dying
« Last Post by Londoner1 on December 05, 2023, 09:30:07 am »
Some advice to others:

mazda6 ts2 2.0 petrol.  Dec 2023 Cold temp.

Battrey dying slow cranking RAC confirms battery weak, swopped out after 7 years of use (pretty good).

Battrey pulled out of car at 1pm, replaced at 2pm all was well. did not drive it as WFH.

Its cold and traffic was busy where o love, so opted to leave the car outside house and just start the engine for 20 mins, al good.

Sat morn, 0c  start the car all ok, warm up and drive off to test it,  notice idle was not riht, during my drive teh car cut out 3 timnes when slowing down or stopping, this happanned in first 25 mins. Proceeded to drive home , all ok.

Googled the issue , found its likely car was relearning from ecu that caused this plus the cold temp did not help.   All ok now.

I did not have this problem when i last replaced the battery in summer 2016.

Mazda 6 / Re: What type and door mirrors
« Last Post by grumpyxch on November 28, 2023, 01:52:48 pm »
I've got my car back, with the new mirror unit.

The answer to fitting the glass without breaking it is to heat it up 'quite hot' (garage mechanic's words), then fit it. There are 3 ball-and-socket joints on the back of the glass, a main one for supporting the glass, a small one for horizontal adjustment, and a small one for vertical adjustment. It was the latter one that broke if the mirror wasn't heated first.
