Can't find HP
« on: April 02, 2019, 07:29:56 pm »
Hello, hope someone can point me in the right direction on this, recently I bought a 6 2008 2.0 diesel ts, tonight I tried to insure it & they asked what the Bhp was, they said their system brought 3 options up which were 120, 136 or 143, I didn't have a clue, so they saved my details & as its in the garage having a new cambelt fitted I'd ask the mechanic tomorrow.
I've looked on parkers using the registration number & it says 140 bhp but I checked another website & it said 138??
Also she asked if it was the TS or TS2, I said it just says TS on the boot but when I've looked through the paperwork that came with it, a previous owner had some work done at Mazda & detailed it as TS2, judging by the radio (having seen prior 2008 models radio) I'd guess it was a TS2 as its got the media button bigger radio in it.
Any advice would be appreciated ????

I have the same car.

First, do not use this insurance company that cannot find the details of your car or any other personal details like your address. Find an insurance company that can do things properly.

Second, your car is 103kw, 140ps, 138hp.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_Diesel_engine#RF_2007_(2.0_MZR-CD)

Third, check your V5 or other documents that came with the car. It should have all the details you need. If your wheels are stock and look like that:

Then you have a TS2 model.

If your wheels look like that:

https://images.honestjohn.co.uk/imagecache/file/crop/640x426/media/3386029/Mazda6~(5).jpg

Then it is a TS model.

The TS version has 16in wheels and the TS2 has 17in.

Fourth, check with Mazda customer services your VIN and will confirm all the details they have for that car, especially if it has been modified and you cannoy figure out what is going on.

Thanks Apav, the plot thickens, the wheels on mine suggest TS but I've found some paper work from a service from Mazda which detailed it as a TS2??
The insurance company which I'm currently using is CIS (co-op) I could understand if it was a backstreet little company.

Your car should say TS or TS2 at the back. It says Mazda 6 in one side and TS2 on the other. There is a good chance you have the TS model and the dealer did wrong. You have the TS wheels for a start.

Try the car insurance search engines. They should tell you more.

https://www.comparethemarket.com/car-insurance/

For mine it says:

2009 MAZDA 6 TS2 TD (140), 1999CC Diesel, 5DR, Manual

Check this:

https://www.co-opinsurance.co.uk/car-insurance

For my car it says:

Car type:    Motor Car/Personnel Carrier
Car first registered:    2009
Car manufacturer:     MAZDA
Car model:    6
Car series:    TS2 TD (140)
Engine size:    1999

They should be able to find your car from their website.

Try to do an autotrader valuation and it will also come back with all the details as well:

Mazda Mazda6 2.0 TD TS2 5dr
