Drop link/Anti Roll bar link
« on: November 06, 2011, 07:33:26 am »
Hi all please forgive my first post being a question.

As above, there's excessive play in the ball joint so drop link needs replacing to pass MOT.

I've sourced the part and will be picking it up this morning. Is it a fairly easy job? Are there any how to guides available at all please? Hoping I can get this one swapped out myself without incurring more cost.

Thanks in advance

i havent properly looked at the 6, but on previous cars, its a 15 min job for each side. just two bolts. sometimes you need to jack the hub up to align the holes up but its a simple task overall. just make sure when jacking he car up, its properly supported. it hurts when it drops on your toe...

Thanks rrobson, managed to tackle this last weekend.  The car has done 110k and I think the link was the original so it was pretty much fused with rust.  Thankfully I managed to get the grinder in to take the nuts off.  Good shout on jacking the hub up to align things as this made fitting the new part straightforward.
