Help with Tyre sizes
« on: June 29, 2019, 10:04:10 pm »
Looking for folks with more experience on this. I've owned a 2009 2.2d (163) TS for about three years now and bought 4 x 18" alloys/tyres taken off a 6 Sport of the same vintage. Checking the dimensions of the tyres fitted, theres 3 x 245/40ZR18 and 1 x 225/45ZR18.

I'm thinking the 245's were used at the back and the 225 was at the front but at some point a 245 was added, perhaps by mistake?

Anyway, I would like to have equal dimensions front and back - is this the norm for an unmodified Sport and if so what is the standard size? 225? Could I fit 4 x 235 all round, or even just finish off with all 4 as 245, given I have 3 already?

Excuse my ignorance on the subject, mid life crisis guys who has never ventured from standard wheels/tyres.

Hoping to use one of the old 16's as a spare but I'll cross that bridge later.

If google is right, then you want the 225/45ZR18 91W tyres.

You can fit the 235 tyres but it will be all over the place. So as you buying 4 tyres, why not buy the original size?

Just make sure that the new wheels do not require a different type of bolt to stay on the car.
