PLEASE HELP..!!..2008 hatch back boot stuck/locked shut.!!
« on: November 08, 2014, 06:17:18 pm »
Hi All.
Im hoping someone on here can help with advise on how to free up a stuck shut boot lid.
We have a 2008 ( newer shape.) 5 door 2L Deisel.
Just today the hatch back will not open using the button on the boot lid or on the key fob.
Looking in the manual there is an emergency release thing in the boot behind a small panel.

Ive tryed to use that but it seems to be stuck and wont move to the right as the book advises.!!

So the boot is well and truley shut.!!

Im dreading taking it to Mazda due to the cost they are likely to charge me just to look at it.!!

Any advise PLEASE..???

Cheers.
Alex.

Sorry i should have also said:
While i was in the boot trying to open it, when i pressed the remote part of the boot mechanism moved and there was a noise from behind the panel on the right hand side of the boot where i guess the elecrtical stuff is located..!

If you have tried to release as per the picture below, i suspect the mechanical mechanism is at fault as there is a simple mechanical arm that connects the lever shown to the unlock mechanism and opens quite easily on mine.
I would have thought the problem isn't electrical as the mechanical restriction is what is probably preventing the electrical operation.
You'll need the boot lid de-trimmed to see what the problem is which i suspect can only be done once the lid is opened.
Uou could always try and remove the mechanism cover screw and cover shown in the picture to see if it shows what the fault is.

Hi...Thanks for taking the time to reply.
I have tryed the method you poinyed out but the lever wont move to the right.
Its jammed.
Guess ill have to suffer the wrath of the Mazda dealer and book it in.

This is so anoying as we are looking to trade the car in soon for a newer model.

Our Deisel has only done 50k too.
