Strange Sound
« on: April 02, 2021, 04:36:12 pm »
Can anyone guess what is this strange sound?
Sounds like a clock, 'tick-tock'. Goes so slowly.
I known that the timing chain sounds different. But what is that?
I take off the altenator belt and the sound is unchanged...

Please help!

I am not sure if it is the quality of the audio but it sounds normal for a YouTube diagnosis. It sounds a bit hollow like main bearings not doing well but I put this down to YouTube audio quality.

Stupid question, but is it not a stone stuck in your tires?

Adrian,

The car isn't moving otherwise a good guess. Its an engine noise and yes it souns like clock.
Could it be one of the external valves opening and closing like egr of which there are two valves.
How is it if you increase engine speed slightly.
What about the belt tensioner?
Is it there when the engine is cold and/or  hot ?

Engine mounts, any sympathetic movement of them in time with the ticking?
