« on: August 27, 2013, 08:14:23 pm »
Hello,
All these multicar firms offer many car & many people but none do as per subject.
At moment the missus and i have to change every year so we do not loose no claims and is a pain.

Anyone know a firm that does 1car & 2 people insurance?

I think a lot of insurance companies do one car and two drivers at no extra cost. I have my son on mine at no extra cost. Try Liverpool and Victoria (LV=)

sorry if wasn't clear, was in my head!
if we do not swap the main driver every 12months, the other person looses there no claims discount.
but i cannot find a place where you can be a named driver and retain your no claims if you remained a named driver for 3or4 years rather than a primary driver.

make sense?

I know that this isn't related to the subject, but I have just renewed my policy today. I rang my provider to tell them that I was not renewing as I had found another quote which was about £40 cheaper. They asked me to hold on whilst they reviewed it and came back with another quote that was ***£50*** cheaper than the renewal quote. I then read Martin Lewis's website (Money saving expert) and he states that some companies always add on £50 when you renew! So, its always worth querying the renewal amount. Just thought that I'd mention it. :)

i always search and compare every year.
end up swapping between the same two generally, just now with 1 car and both need to retain our ncd we have to swap every year the main driver - bit pants no proper policy market for this.

There is some good news. Two insurers at least have begun offering no-claims bonus for named drivers.

Direct Line allows up to four named drivers added to a policy to earn their own NCD. It builds up at a lower rate – around three-quarters of normal discount
www.directline.com/car-insurance/
Named Driver No Claim Discount
Name an additional driver on your car insurance policy and they can earn their own Named Driver No Claim discount for when they take out their own Direct Line policy

I believe Aviva has a similar scheme, but the process is a long way away from becoming standard.

Perhaps you could insure a fictional car?? I remember a few customers used to do it twenty years ago when I worked in insurance, just to keep their no claims up . Not sure about the legalities these days, but something like a 1980 Citroen 2CV, insured TPO. Personally I found Direct line and Aviva very uncompetitive this year, even with cash back offers. I usually use brokers, but my last 3 cars we all modified so the mainstream insurers were cheaper this year. We have my partners car with Admiral but to add my 6 for 9 months was 80 percent of  what I paid with Hastings on it's own for a year.

Try Admiral insurance. my Mrs has been building NCD on my car at the same rate as me. Do a quote on their website and call them to knock something of the quote. you should also ask for an explanation of their named driver NCD.
you can use a quote from a different insurer to help knock the price down further.

I renove every year, so I always search and compare every year and look for the best prices.
