carbon clean valves on skyactiv 2.2 d
« on: August 19, 2020, 12:52:19 pm »
Hi has anyone undertaken cleaning the valves on this engine

I've got a turbo A under boost error and scbs dcs generic errors

Ive cleaned egr, cooler, throttle body and manifold but at the time of having it all apart didn't look at the valves.   A mechanic told me the head would need to come off to do the valves.

Other direct injection engines can be cleaned by checking valves are closed and carefully scrapping away carbon build up.
No one seems to do walnut blast for this engine. Is that because you cant get to the valves?

Thanks

I believe the dealers do something similar to the walnut blast but use some plastic pellets just in case anybody is allergic to nuts.  If any end up in the cylinder they mlt and dispear was the theory.
I had mine done under warranty. 2014 model.
