Oil pump chain
« on: May 25, 2018, 04:23:45 pm »
Just fitting new timing chain Kit

It came with an oil pump drive chain and sprocket, Does anybody know how to time up the oil pump with the crank, I think there must be a balance shaft in pump housing.

It is a 2009 Mazda 6 GH 185hp, R2AA Engine

A link to a manual or any advice greatly received

Thanks in advance

Steve

Just finished it, Also done valve clearances and checked oil pump pick up strainer for debris.
Oil pump needs timing as there is a balance shaft in there also, I have the timing chain installation instructions but they are not very clear about timing the pump, What it doesnt tell you is that when you have the cam chain on and set, you need to turn the engine half a turn before you can set up the balance shaft timing. I spent hours messing with this today and trying it in different positions until I figured it out. Car runs as sweet as a nut.
