hard to start when hot (diesel 2.2)
« on: June 29, 2014, 04:51:56 pm »
Hi all
my Mazda as developed a strange issue it’s a 10 plate 2.2 diesel with 51400 on the clock it starts with no issues when cold but when at normal running temp and you turn engine off say to get diesel which might take 5 minutes then restart the engine it struggles to start but when it does it wants to jump out of the engine bay but then when its running again its ok and when left to go cold it starts fine?

It  could be a fuel feed problem of some kind ? Sorry not more helpful, but with a hot diesel
with fuel in all cylinders it should start first swing of the motor.

Hi, I have a 2010 Ts2 diesel too and I have EXACTLY the same issue. I have 74k on the clock. This morning on way to golf, I picked up my mate on the way after a 20min motorway run. Only a couple of mins loading up and then upon start up, I thought the engine dropped out or jumped out the bay too! Awful noise. Seemed noisier running afterwards, but that's probably just my paranoia on this car as I hate it....just gets running nice and then something happens....seems to be an issue with the mark....like the passive dpf regen which is now a weekly menace for me.....

Anyone know why this hot start is an issue?

I just figured my problem out. It was caused by my battery. It was measured to only 23% of the original capacity. Swapped in a new one and all my issues have gone away..
