Loss of power 2008 2.0ltr diesel
« on: December 07, 2014, 09:17:07 am »
hi my diesel has lost power, seems like it has no turbo boost.it has been running fine and still runs smooth starts eaily etc. put a code reader on the ecu no dtc's no warning lights, maf readings go up and down with throttle press/release, tps moves up and down, temp stable at 90 idle steady at 750 rpm. Map readings stable at 90 is. Does anybody have simialr experience or ideas?
Car has 95k full dealer serv history.

checked out the turbo and pipework all good and intact. looked at the throttle body found it had a bit of coking up but the pipe from the egr valve to the throttle body was nearly blocked at the throttle body connection.cleaned all that out then the cleaned out the EGR valve. put the car back together and hey presto it now has loads of power again. :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

I don't think there is anything more satisfying than sorting a problem out yourself. Even more so, when you have also saved the garage cost in the process.

I'm starting to get a similar judder to the one I had on my Vectra when the EGR was gone - any chance of a pic of where the EGR is? Would like to try a clean before trying anything expensive!
