2.2 150 and 175 engine differences
« on: January 13, 2017, 05:30:18 am »
Other than the output, what are the differences between these two engines?

Are they completely different?

Are the turbos different?

Or is it the same engine with a different map loaded? If so can you change the map?

Same mechanicals, just the mapping.
Mazda will remap for £500 I believe.
Then you have to tell your Insurance Company and they put up your premium.  All for 25 hp, is it worth it?

Interesting as the 175 carries a bigger than £500 premium. I am looking at the 150 and 175 (Currently have a company owned a 2014 mazda 3 2.2) Think I may go down the 150 as the mpg is better on the 150 maz 6 than it is on the 150 maz 3 which is weird as the maz 6 is a bigger car. I can only put it down to different gearing.

Weirdly though why is the 150 generally tunable to around 180 and the 175 tunable to 210 ?
