oil & filter change on a 2.0 143 57plate. how?
« on: September 27, 2014, 01:37:40 am »
Good morning everyone. I have recently purchased this vehicle and love it. It does however require a 80k service, something I would usually do myself however there seems to be some conflicting information on this one.

I have read about injector calibration, and something to do with resetting dpf? Are these things that actually need doing? What would happen if I were to just replace the oil and filter without doing these things?

Any help on this would be much appreciated!

Many thanks for the reply.

I have read and now understand what a dpf is and does, hoover it doesnt really answer either of my questions. What will a stealer do to the dpf when I take it for an oil change other than check it? And the injectors?

Animal_88,

If you take your car to the stealers then they will probably try and hit you for the 75k service which includes the Cambelt and will give you a heart attack!! On your model I think a bill of £700+ can be expected. Check your service history to see if this service has already been completed.

I am not sure if they do anything to the DPF. They might check how much Carbon build up it contains and possibly clean it?

Calibration of the Injectors sounds like a big job but it takes Freelance Mazda (a local specialist) about 10mins. I would get it done mate. It won't do any harm. Try and locate a good Mazda specialist near you.

Be careful with oil changes, makes sure you use the correct spec oil and the ECU will need resetting.

It might be worth checking the oil strainer pick up for any potential blockages. This is a known and potentially catastrophic failure mode.

I hope this helps.

Farnsy

Thats where I a fairly lucky. The car has done 80k miles. 200 miles ago it has a service, with a cambelt and a new dpf. Expensive for the previous owner! However this was nearly 12 months ago. So ideally the oils needs to be changed.

This is why I was hoping to just do it myself, along with the air filter and polleb filter which oddly, are dirty and definitely weren't replaced on its last service which I thought was the big one (75k).

So you have only done 200 miles in 12 months ?

Have a look here. It explains in detail how to reset the ECU after an oil change, also, how to calibrate the injectors and do a DPF manual regen.
