Mazda 6 Immobiliser Issues
« on: October 02, 2018, 11:02:48 am »
Hi
My Mazda 6 Sport 2010 has an immobiliser issue.
The keyless fob opens and locks the doors, boot etc but the immobiliser will not deactivate.
I had this problem 2 weeks ago and a mobile guy came and reprogrammed the car, he said the codes where scrambled, all worked great for 2 weeks. The problem is now back again and the mobile guy says he cant help. Any one know why the immobiliser is not reading the keys. I have tried putting key into ignition slot but still nothing.
I have contacted various immobiliser repair people but non are able or willing to help.
If I buy a second hand entry system, ECU, immobiliser, barrel , keys etc etc and replace the whole lot will this solve the problem or is the system coded to the car in some way. Or Can I bypass the immobiliser completely and get rid altogether

Thanks for reading
Mark C

Are you sure it is the immobiliser and not the keyless system? Do you get the red key flashing?

It is a common problem that can be solved differently.

You can try new batteries for the keys like here:

You can try to enter the key to the slot and then press the start button, without turning the key, like here:

You also notice in the same thread there is an earth in the wing that may be the source of the problem.

Apparently there is a recall/advice about that:

Other people have tried random things which worked for a while but returned to square one like here:

So your “coding repair” may have been the same placebo effect that works for a while, also known as Mazda zoom zoom.

Replacing the key entre system seems to be the solution but I am not sure if you will manage to make it work as DIY:

That will fix the car for good as others found out but you may not be happy with the cost.

As you have tried all other options, replace the key batteries, do the earth connection and if nothing works, go to the dealer and have it checked. Replacing all other things you mention, will cost you a lot more than transporting the car to the dealer and have an inspection. If the solution is something you can DIY, then you can decide based on how the dealer will quote you. But start slowly and do not go ahead and buy parts you may not need. The batteries and the earth connection may be enough if you are lucky.
