Mazda 6 rear spring part numbers
« on: December 09, 2020, 10:12:41 am »
Hi
Ive got to buy a new rear spring for my 2006, GG, 2,0 Mazda 6. Non-self-levelling suspension.
There seem to be a couple of part numbers listed, but the spec looks the same.
The part numbers are GJ6A28011B and G21B28011B
Does anyone know if both are compatible/the same?
Thanks
Mark

You need to buy two springs (1) the other will snap as well (2) the other will sit lower than the new one.

It seems that there is (1) standard suspension (2) sport suspension (3) self levelling suspension.

So there are three part numbers.

https://www.autopartspro.co.uk/sachs-1231606

https://www.autopartspro.co.uk/kilen-7837043

Compare the different part numbers.

I would not buy before I was sure that will fit.

https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/car-brands/spare-parts-mazda/6-hatchback-gg/19107/10213/coil-springs.html?criteria%5B100%5D=HA

I think all of them are the same in terms of compatibility. But I have no idea why the same part has multiple oem part numbers.

Can you try emailing them?

And also email different Mazda traders and compare notes?

I think it is one of those things that you will not be safe with a single answer but when you seek multiple opinions you will get more confused. It is more likely to be told, that will do, let's crack on.

But in theory at least there should be some difference but I am not sure who would have such knowledge.

I check my GH car at https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk and it also returns three different part numbers and I can see (1) standard suspension (2) sport suspension (3) constant wire coil sping

I think the same happens with your GG car as well (1) standard (2) sport (3) variable wire it calls it.

There are £25 each plus postage. So you will better confirming before buying anything.

Thanks for your very comprehensive info :)
Yes Ill def buy two, it's just had an MOT which didn't pick up the broken spring!
Its standard suspension so hopefully shouldnt be too hard to get the right one.
I usually use a USA site for part numbers but they only show the 2.3 model they got there.
Thanks again!
Mark

It is always handy to have the part number but even without it, you can find the part as all sellers use some common compatibility search engines to match the parts. At least in theory.

I first checked the https://www.carparts4less.co.uk/car-springs but it was so expensive. Maybe it is worthy trying more sellers and compare the results:

https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/coil-springs-10213

https://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/spare-parts/springs.html

https://www.autopartspro.co.uk/carparts-online/suspension-springs

https://www.buycarparts.co.uk/springs

I think the MOT is quite flexible nowadays. I had a broken anti roll bar link picked up at the service but then the MOT put it as advisory. At the same MOT that I picked up a fail for the number plate. I suppose it is easier to replace the number plate, more turn over means more revenue.

Thanks!
I've bought some new springs.
Hopefully, they are the correct ones.
I'm in Estonia, the "Technical Test" here can be a bit hit n miss! They often use a moving table system to check for suspension wear.
The test here is often completed in less than 20 mins and is valid for 2 years!
The broken spring was noticed by a garage when they were asked to do an alignment check!

Maybe the spring failed after the test or they made a mistake and just missed. At least now you found out about it and will fix it.
