Fitting Roof Bars
« on: April 23, 2014, 04:10:06 pm »
Can anyone give me some advice on fitting my roof bars?

I have a set of genuine Mazda 6 bars (for a 2006) and was wondering how much do i tighten them up into the screw holes in the roof, i.e as tight as they go or just until you get some resistance.

Thanks.

Tight ... but not FT with a great long ratchet handle.

The maximum torque for a bolt is half a turn before it snaps !!  :o

I always thought the correct torque was, shear it off and back half a turn  ;D
