Boot button
« on: October 21, 2011, 03:42:37 pm »
The boot button on the back of the car has a small crack in it and the boot opens itself when it rains/gets wet.
I remember on the previous forum that some owners were getting this fixed under warranty but as my car is out of warranty I was wondering if anyone knows how much it's going to cost to fix?

I had this replaced under warranty, apparently it's a known problem and the Mazda dealer knew exactly what I was talking about, as he's seen loads like that.

A Mazda mechanic told me that when the switch rubber does split it can cause the switch to malfunction AND discharge the battery. FWIW.

It's a common problem. The rubber splits and water gets in. Your dealer should replce the switch under warranty.

Button in high level brake light ?

Maybe the hatch is different to my 2011 estate ?

On the estate, there is a rubber covered release switch in the middle of the handle above the number plate.

With the keyless locking system, there is a lock button to the right of this - still under the handle.

My high level brake light is at the top of the glass, and what you see there may be the screenwash jet ?

I have merged two topics here as they both have the same subject. I would remind everybody that it is always a good idea to use the search function on the home page before starting a new topic.
