Roof Bar max load weight????
« on: May 03, 2017, 07:49:25 am »
Hi all,

I'm looking into getting some roof bars and a roof box for my 2010 Mazda 6 2.2 Sport.  Think I'll be going for the Thule set of bars (£160 sound about right to you lot?).  Anyway, I was reading on the Thule site that I also need to know what the max load the car can take via roof bars.

I looked over the Car's handbook but it didn't say anything about roof bars etc...

All one know what this would be?  Basically we tow a caravan and I want to move the awning from the boot to a roof box. So I can put stuff in the boot and keep the Van weight down.

Cheers all.

Try having a look on Google under Mazda 6 roof rack max weight. Seems to indicate for all models
100 kgs max load. Depends on what your awning weighs ?
Might be worth also asking Mazda UK or checking with the dealers for any information they have.
Never had more than a couple of suitcases and a few bits on the roof of any car I have had.

Cheers V.

The Awning I'll be carrying is only 18kgs so should be more than fine when you include the weight of the roof box as well.

Out of interest, when I towed, our van awning went in the Van, in the walkway, laid over the van axle.
This made all the space I needed in the boot. Worked just fine and kept the whole thing dry.Assuming
it was not raining when we loaded up.!
