Car 4 years old and the handbrake mechanism in the rear calipers has seized both sides and the handbrake is inop. Is this a common issue?

The car has only covered 68k. Mazda dealer wants £850 to repair.

This does seem to be VERY COMMON if you read through the forums get the info then if i were you i would contact Mazda Customer Services and see what they have to say especialy if the car has been serviced by Mazda dealers and you have the service records. They may contribute with the cost. WORTH A TRY.
Cheers Steve  8) GOOD LUCK :)

Vin number, mine is on the dash at the bottom left. You can read it from outside.
Also, there is a flap to show a plate on the floor drivers side, under the mat.
Hope that is what you are looking for.

Yes I know what you mean.

I got silly with the more than 6 digits that exist in the VIN. The one in the V5 is fine, as it starts from 193K for the last six digits.

I will need to email Mazda now to find out what they are going to do.

Somebody else mentioned during late summer, early autumn that they got a letter for the notorious seat fitment as well but this is not online.
