Driver's side electric wing mirror
« on: November 13, 2017, 06:01:32 pm »
Any suggestions welcome.

This morning, the drivers side mirror decided not to work, (passenger side ok), the motor does not want to stop, I've pulled a 5 amp fuse (according to the manual) MIRROR, however, this has also taken down the trip comp and media centre etc, in fact everything in the centre panel, and it's also seems to have affected the immobiliser.

I'm thinking switch in the door panel? although there has been no previous hint of anything wrong nor has anything got wet.

Any suggestions appreciated (keep it clean!!)

Thanks

Steve

Financially speaking, you will be better off with an auto electrician because the new car will lose more money than what they will pay you to scrap it, plus all the interest you will need to pay if you do not have cash around.

I did not understand the problem. Does the motor work when you press the switch but there is no movement? Are you aware that the side selection switch breaks and you have to hold it pressed in order to change the direction of the glass? For example, if you want to adjust the left mirror, you must select the left side and keep pressing the switch while you fiddle with the glass adjustments.

Hey Thanks for the reply.

The problem was the motor stayed on whilst the engine was running, and then for a few minutes after the engine was turned off. the mirror didn't move at all. Probably a short somewhere, but no indication this was going to happen at all.
No water ingress to the door panel or any impacts.

Got the same problem as Steveo, but on passenger side. Seems like the guide has broken and now the motor keeps running, which is annoying. Going to take the quarter panel off and disconnect the motor.
