steering angle sensor
« on: April 27, 2016, 04:27:15 pm »
Just had a cel light come on...it's the orange car symbol with skid lines underneath, my mechanic has put it on his code reader and found out its the steering angle sensor...he cleared it but it came back on within a few hundred yards....

does anyone know if it's a expensive job to do, and if you can just buy the sensor itself?

my mechanic isn't 100% sure if I can just buy the sensor or if I need a steering rack

any help guys would be appreciated

thanks

Hi Yogi,

Have you had the battery out or disconnected before the light came on?
If so just turn the steering wheel from lock to lock after starting up the car and the light should go away. Has something to do with the adaptive headlight system which needs this to reinitiate after the battery has been disconnected.
That is if your car has HID headlights with this system fitted.

Let us know how you went, hope this helps.

Cheers,

Froggy.

Hi Yogi. My Mazda 6 was pulling to the left. Was told it was the steering sensor and they fitted a new steering rack. It was doe under warranty so don't know the cost except they said it was expensive. Didn't have a warning light show though.
