Newbie question regarding self leveling headlights
« on: November 22, 2015, 09:48:02 pm »
After trolling through google i thought i'd ask the m6 experts on here.. I have a 2007 Gen2 Mazda 6 2.5 LS with the automatic leveling headlights. By the look of it they seem to be stuck in the lowest position which is a bit nerve racking driving down unlit roads at night.

I was wondering what to check and look out for before going down the root of new motors... I've heard there is a sensor for the leveling does anyone know where this is so i can check wiring, also are the motors part of the headlight cluster so again i can check wiring.

Ive tried the turning lights on then switching on the ignition to see if i can hear the motors moving but i cant hear anything.

Anyone help shine more light on this then what my headlights do lol...

I had a 2004 TS with manual light leveling and found that the motors eventually stopped working after the car was about about 5-6 years old. I would guess the same goes for the auto leveling system.

Oh right.. I take it the motors are attached to the back of the headlight, right next to the balast for the bulbs??
