D.I.Y. Timing chain replacement.
« on: May 14, 2015, 12:06:13 pm »
Dear Forum members,

I am new to the group and would be very grateful if members could point me in the right direction regarding D.I.Y. replacement of the timing chain on my M6, TS 2.2 litre diesel, 2009 model. It has streched, almost to the limit (Lodge Mazda, Bicester say 9.5) and I would like to have a go at doing the work myself, as I work from home quite a bit these days and have the time and technical experience to take the job on. It would be great, however to draw on experience any members can offer, who have carried out a similar change. Also, advice on parts needed and sourcing would be much appreciated.

Many thanks, Oily Al.

New chain fitted, not to bad a job to do, probably took longer to clean cases of old sealer than fitting the chain. The reset procedure is very odd tho not done through diag plug but through fuse box, that looks like it resets all the systems, oil, injectors and chain settings. Maybe it's possible to do reset without changing the chain there's a thought for you owners out there.

There is a lot of information already on the forum regarding resetting the ECU

This thread in particular provides many links that could be followed to help those interested.

That thread doesn't appear to show reset for 2.2 or am I reading to fast.
Still having issues with photo uploads maybe I could email them to somebody who is better at this sort of thing, have diagrams showing chain position, prices, part numbers and reset procedure

Nothing in Junk folder.

Try using the procedure I have suggested here   http://www.mazda6forums.co.uk/index.php?topic=1846.0

Everyone else seems to be ok with this .

Edit :  I have just tried sending 2 messages from my personal email to the following address   willpower@mazda3forums.co.uk     both containing pictures.    They both arrived intact within 2 minutes.

Hi. Any updates for this page? Any other threads available for a write up on diy chain replacement would be very useful. Thanks
