Colour choice
« on: April 29, 2015, 06:29:57 pm »
I've decided I'm buying a Mazda 6 2.2d sports. Looking at the 185bhp as it's a lower insurance group. I'm edging more towards the white but was told it's a premium colour so will be more expensive. Why is this?

I very much doubt it that a certain colour has a big impact on the insurance pricing. Both of my cars were white. My current 6 is a 63 plate I live in London (zone 2) and pay just over ?400 for a year. Have 6 years no claims.

Assuming you are buying second hand, then colour can affect the price of the car because it depends on it's popularity. At the moment white is the in colour, so you may have to pay a few extra pounds for it. However, if that's the colour you like then you pay what you think the car is worth to you.

I tested the white one and the rear calipers were seized on, so much so I parked on a hill and didn't need to use the handbrake. Tried to bargain him down and he wasn't budging even a pound despite only having 2.5mm on all 4 tyres.

I ended up walking away and it was for the best. I picked up a 2012 blue 2.2 diesel sport. It's just turned 3 years old and I got it for ?400 less than the white which was a year older.

You did the right thing to walk away. If there is a problem with the car then it shows it has not been looked after. What colour did you end up with?

I have the black Mica. Looks great when its clean but shows all the dirt when it's not. My previous silver car was great for disguising the dirt.
