05 Sport HID Xenon ballast failures
« on: February 18, 2014, 02:02:49 pm »
Hi all. My 2005 2.0TD Sport Saloon recently went down to one headlight after flickering for a few weeks (it's not the bulb so must be the ballast unit) and now the other one has started flickering so I REALLY need to get this sorted! The only trouble is the expense... So my question is: Can I replace the OEM ballast units with those from an aftermarket HID upgrade kit? If yes then which kit is recommended and is the wiring/relocating of the new ballast units straightforward? OEM replacements are going to cost me upwards of £250 while these kits that come with bulbs are below £50. Any help or advise will be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Ali  ;)

My hid did this (08), only the drivers side though so I swapped the bulbs over and checked the wiresx after this they was ok ? Very strange.

If this does not work why not look at motor hog or equivalent and get the whole assembly.
