Ok. I have removed these components as I'm pretty sure they were doing more harm than good. The retaining plate was a little loose and I was worried it was actually blocking the pickup port. The strainer itself was clear this time so I think all deposits have been flushed. I also change my injector seals every time I do a service now anyway so they should not fail again. And vilified deposits should no longer be created due to failing washers.

First few 100 miles are completed fine with no adverse effects. I will keep you updated if anyone's interested.

I'd go to a different mechanic for a start. To replace a shock twice without there being anything actually wrong with the shock is ridiculous.

The top suspension arm most likely needs replacing. Its actually quiet a common fault.

hi, im really hoping someone can help me on this forum. I drive a 2008 Mazda 6 Sport (2.0ltr Diesel [turbo]), 95k miles on the clock. In July this year the front driver side developed a creaking noise. it was especially noticeable at low speeds/coming up to lights etc. The longer I drove it, the more louder it became. I could even feel it through the steering wheel at times and when turning into my driveway/parking spots. I brought it to mechanic and they struggled to find something at first but changed the front drivers side shock absorber. The noise was still evident a few weeks later. In Sept. the same mechanic replaced the shock again (said the previous one might have been faulty and was still under warranty) and also the shock mounting. Shortly before this recent fix the car went through its NCT (Irish equivalent of the MOT) and passed all area's of suspension tests. The noise is back again, developing after about 15/20 minutes of city driving and very evident at low speeds. I'm at my wits-end!!.. I've spent c €500 so far to get this issue fixed and its back!. Can anyone think of what else it could be. I'm going to bring it back to my mechanic again but they have driven it many times and had it up on ramps and changed the main suspension items and its still back. Should i bring it to another mechanic or the same one. any advice on this would be very helpful, thanks you all in advance, robert, Dublin, ireland

What is everyone using to hold their mobile phones?  I looked at the  brodit one for the 6 and it seems to obscure the sat bag etc.
My previous car was a 2011 set exeo and I had the dedicated brodit holder and have found that it fits perfectly the rh of the centre console with the only mod needed is a bit of double sided tape to secure the rh leg of the holder.  It’s perfect for me

Never heard of them but their website looks like it is insurance for US expats. Some insurance companies have admin fees as a way of making profits, so you have to be careful what you sign.

I finally got the DPF light on, so happy with that. I thought it was gone.  :P

I have not used the car a lot during the last 6+ months, doing less than 100 miles per week. It took 13440 miles since the last reset to come on. I think this extra 2000 miles is down to the oil quality. Time to find a garage willing to do the oil change using my oil.

All C oils are classed as long drain. The C3 oil is "thicker" (3.5 value at HTHS compared to the 2.9 for the C1) but it will be too old skool to claim that this helps the oils to last longer. Maybe that is the reason they moved to the C3 oil to reduce the effects of the insufficient design on the oil circulation system to cope with the dirty oil. Instead of fixing the problem, they use the "thicker" oil.

Good for the local dealer to use the C3. Have they figured out what 6 you have? They may service new 6s but this does not mean that from now on they can use the same barrel for all cars.

It actually sounds like a poor earth somewhere so first thing is check all the engine earth straps and battery terminals.
