Hand brake
« on: November 24, 2017, 06:01:07 am »
All,

I've a quick question on hand brake adjustment.
I've a 2014 6 estate model 2.2D although I don't suppose the engine type will have a bearing.

My car needs its hand brake adjusting, if it gets any higher you could hang your hat on it.
I'm not keen on taking it to a dealer for this, so could someone please let me know how to adjust it?
Is it adjusted at the brake, or along the cable length?

Thanks in advance
Simon

Before you do anything, you should ask the dealer whether your car is included in the handbrake recall.

Somebody else had the rear callipers, discs and pads replaced as part of that.

Not sure if you have looked into this yet but the same was happening on my 2013. It turns out my rear Calipers were banjaxed and had to be replaced after lengthy expensive attempts to refurbish then. Just dropped €1450 euro to get all four corners replaced with new pads and Discs. When I was in the uk Mazda were quitting over a £1000 just for the rears. Go to a reputable independent and when you have it sorted keep the Calipers as clean as possible. It’s a flaw in Mazda’s. Calipers are not available anywhere but from Mazda which is a f**king joke.

Thanks both,

It does seem like it’s a standard handbrake adjustment job.
I’m not due for a recall and the callipers seem fine.
Does anyone have the details about adjusting the cables?

Regards
Simon
