Glovebox light
« on: September 12, 2012, 10:37:18 am »
Hi

Does anybody know what bulb I need to buy for the glovebox light? Also, how do you replace it. Any help appreciated

It's had two services at two different Mazda dealers and they have failed to pick the issue up or recommend the problem.... Disgraceful
Cheers

The bulb is a w5w bulb, same as the sidelights! Put a led upgrade in, it looks miles better! To get to the bulb you've gotta stick your head in the glove box and look up!!

Thanks will do. You dont happen to know the part number? For either the original bulb or an led upgrade

Cheers

If it is the usual sort of sidelight bulb, like a big glass pea with two wire connectors bent round the flattened end, recall it is a 201 ??

Best remove it to be sure.

Should be obvious ? Does the bulb just pull straight out of the holder ?

I have my car with me, but I am in the middle of a forest in Sweden tonight, it is very dark and muddy outside, so I can't go and look tonight !

Is it detailed in the handbook perhaps ?

Surprised that it has failed already on a two year old car !

the bulb seems to be stuck in some type of holder. I am unable to remove the bulb from the holder. I think you need to unscrew the holder to remove the bulb.

Glovebox light does not have it's own switch.  It comes on when the headlights are on.
It is a wedge type 5W the same as a number plate bulb but it is very difficult to remove unless you wobble the holder side to side and pull the holder out.
