I've an advisory on the fuel tank straps on my Mazda 6 estate (diesel).
How easy is it to replace these and can it be done using jack and axle stands.

I honestly doubt if anyone on the forum has had any reason to cope with or had any experience of this situation. I've never heard of this happening before. But you never know :)
Is it a rust situation or has there been some damage sustained ?
On a safety point personally I would not undertake this type of work using a jack and axle stands. Although they might be adequate for a quick look and small job under the car, I wouldn't feel safe carrying out a major repair with the car suspended in such a fashion.

It's a rusting problem. Just had the MOT done and they raised the issue.

Never done one on a Mazda, but have on others
Drain tank, or run till nearly empty, The tank wont weigh much, Use a jack or 2 to hold tank in place and try to do 1 strap at a time. As you will be replacing the straps you could cut the old ones off to make it easier, Put something between jack and tank to spread the load.

When I've replaced tank straps, I used the same technique as Steve described.
