« on: March 24, 2014, 09:48:58 am »
Hi folks, just looking for a set of covers for the roof rack connection points - presently my 6 (2007 Mark 1) has 4 holes with no covers on and looks like the picture below;

Sorry - got mine from a dealer.   Every couple of years one seems to disappear.    My thought was after paying about a fiver for this small bit of plastic it must be a good candidate to be created on a 3D printer.

Ive lost a couple over the years. As they're quite pricey to buy from Mazda, what I did was to cut a strip of the same size as a remaining cover, from an ice cream plastic carton lid, painted it with my touch up brush and stuck it in place with blue tack. You cant notice it unless you stand by the car and look directly at it. Ive never had one of these pinched!!
Much better than forking out pounds for a similar bit of plastic that will probably go missing in time anyway!!!

 ;D  Good idea, which reminded me of my lazy temp fix.  I used some black plastic tape (may have been some electrical insulation tape) to cover over the hole.  Mainly to stop the rain getting in, but it blended in quite well and lasted until I had saved up enough to buy the Mazda replacement. :(  :D

Here's a link for the genuine article if any one is interested .           http://www.sgpetchparts.co.uk/mazda/6/2005-2008-petrol-2.0-145-bhp/Roof-Trim-Cover-3342.html

Black electrical insulation tape is the best cheap fix.

Cheers I wasn't sure the correct name for it and hadn't had much luck searching. £4.50 a pop is pricey for what it they are, might just go with the other suggestions - cheers all.
