Intermittent fault - feels like a misfire
« on: December 21, 2017, 05:13:29 pm »
2.2 2013 Diesel

Have an intermittent problem with my engine and would be grateful for any help as garage is mystified as am I.
Engine Huddersfield and sounds and feels like a misfire. Goes weeks without happening and then will suddenly occur. Always happens when car is warmed up and has been driven quite a few miles. Also seems to come on when slowing down coming to roundabout or junction. Will then judder and lose power but not stall. Will often fix itself if I gently accelerate and the it feels like it's surging. Though sometimes it can be almost undrivable.
Changed the fuel filter as that's what the garage thought would be the most obvious problem. Has still happened since though only once and not as bad.  No fault codes or warning lights come on.
Any advice/help would be appreciated.

If you have changed the fuel filter, what grade of Diesel are you burning.? Seen in the motoring press
that running on something like Shell V Power or B.P top grade diesel may well help. Worth a try before
you start spending money on diagnostics etc.

I have been using supermarket diesel but after advice from mechanic started using shell and occasionally the V power expensive stuff plus the odd bottle of reflex. I shall have to wait and see if it makes any difference.
